Use Comply to Track Annual Assurance Letters
Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV (MIU IV) is one of 29 IUs serving schools in Pennsylvania. Their intermediate unit serves the 27 school districts and 3 vo-techs in Butler, Lawrence, and Mercer Counties.
In addition to providing programs and services requested by area school districts, MIU IV also implements programs mandated by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, the State Board of Education, the General Assembly, and the US Department of Education.

The Challenge
Like many educational organizations across Pennsylvania, Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV sends annual employment assurance letters to staff who work on a school-year schedule rather than a full calendar year. Mailing more than 200 letters each year was costing significant time and money.
The Solution
After implementing Comply to track clearances and other organization-specific forms, the IU discovered the platform’s flexibility to deliver and manage information in smarter ways. They created a digital version of their annual employment assurance letter designed to serve as an ongoing notification.
A corresponding compliance item was built to deliver the document and collect employee confirmation through a brief sign-off questionnaire, ensuring each staff member acknowledged and understood their continued employment assurance through the summer break.
By shifting to a one-time electronic notification with tracked acknowledgment, the IU has reduced administrative workload and mailing costs year after year. It’s a strong example of how Comply can be tailored to meet almost any operational need.
