Highlands School District sets goals each year to improve programs, educational services, and facilities that will help their students build a solid foundation and establish lifelong skills that they can use to continue to grow. They challenge their students with an innovative curriculum, enriching courses, and motivating educators. Through the years, the district has received high ratings from local, state, and national evaluation programs at both elementary and secondary levels, and has maintained a maximum accreditation rating.

Located in Southwestern Pennsylvania, the district’s current enrollment is approximately 2,300 students with approximately 310 staff members.

Highlands School District has been using Comply to ensure that all staff have seamless access to professional development and training while efficiently tracking their progress, maintaining Act 48 compliance, and empowering their faculty and staff to succeed in their professional development.

The Challenge

Teachers occasionally miss essential professional development (PD) opportunities due to unforeseen circumstances like illness or scheduling conflicts. To ensure no critical professional learning is missed, Highlands School District has implemented a creative solution: utilizing Edulink’s Comply platform.

The Solution

Ensuring that Every Teacher Receives the Critical Professional Tearning they Need

Within the Comply platform, professional development sessions are recorded and uploaded to the system. Compliance items are then generated and linked to a corresponding recorded session. This allows for seamless and authentic content presentation and the tracking of completion, ensuring all teachers have the necessary information.

Teachers who miss a live PD session are required to complete the corresponding compliance item in Comply, which involves watching the recorded session. To reinforce learning, teachers may also be prompted to respond to questions related to the session material.

This innovative approach ensures that every teacher receives the critical professional learning they need, regardless of their availability for live sessions. Examples of sessions currently offered through this model include Critical Incident Training and New Teacher Orientation.

Comply enables the district to share vital professional learning they need, regardless of their availability for live sessions.

Through bridging the PD gap with technology, Comply enables the district to share vital professional learning they need, regardless of their availability for live sessions. Once completed and approved, Act 48 hours are submitted to PERMS for certified educators.

“Comply has been a game-changer for our district, ensuring that all staff have seamless access to professional development and training. With its streamlined platform, we can efficiently track progress, maintain compliance, and empower our faculty and staff with the resources they need to grow and succeed.”
